Jan Nepomucen Bobrowicz was a Polish composer and virtuoso guitarist, sometimes known as the 'Chopin of the guitar'. Most of his guitar pieces are in the form of themes and variations.
He was born in Kraków.He often performed at the Gewandhaus with Lipinski and Wieck after he served in the military in the Warsaw uprising. While in Germany he published Polish books and was denoted the “Chopin of guitar” by Liszt. His compositions, totalling about 40, included fantasies, marches, polonaises and waltzes. Though Carulli’s intruction manuel could be considered sacrosanct, Bobrowicz chose to revise it.
